Mardaani 2: Rani Mukerji Thinks It’s Time To Do A Lighter Film Which Her Daughter Can Watch

Post Hichiki, Rani Mukerji is back to the silver screen with the Mardaani 2. The film which is a sequel to Mardaani revolves around solving a rape case. Rani Mukerji is known for her amazing craft and choice of movies. And we must say the actress would definitely make the best choice when it comes to picking up lighter movies and balance her personal and professional space.

The Hichki actress gave birth to Adira Chopra in 2015 and has been enjoying the motherhood phase ever since. But after taking a sabbatical for some time now, the actress is all set to make comeback with Mardaani 2. Mardaani actress believes that it’s time for her to take up comedic and lighter films because she sees her daughter growing up. Talking about the same, Rani told Zoom TV, “Now I see my daughter growing up. She is singing, she is dancing, and probably it is time for me to do a lighter film, which she can see.”

During the same interview, the actress even opened up about Mardaani 2 revolving around the real-life incident of rape cases. She said, “For an actor whichever film comes around the time, which they are attracted to. I think Mardaani 1 was born out of the Nirbhaya case where collectively as a nation we were angry, we were disgusted. We wanted to do something. And I think, Mardaani was my way or our way, as a whole team, to basically tell the society, tell the women, tell the girls out there to be aware that these crimes are happening, please protect yourselves. So, that time Mardaani was very very close to my heart.”

"Mardaani 2 comes at a time where they brought a script to me which I realized is very very close to what's happening around us today and we need to send out a message, we need to tell people that a person who comes with a bad intention, doesn't come with a particular face or age. If he has to strike, he will strike. So, we need to be careful and we need to be aware. So, that's the messaging that I wanted to give through,” she added further.
